Report of Visit by Dr.J. F. Knox to Keasbey and Mattison Company October 2, 1952
Koosbav Mattison frorka. Ashler.
On 2nd Ootober I vu reoeived by Ur,
->*< at Ashler
and before lunch had a Worfco tour, I increased them with the
fact that ay via it was nainly social and u there was no textllo work
here it was not likely to arouse interest from the asbestosis angle.
Ur. johneider and the Personnel Manager took as for a Works tour and
it was evident Uiat a good grasp of the essential preventive points
existed. here again a wiring area was an izisolved problem,
llag^-ing operations were well thought out froa the point of view of
worker protection. The dust oounta, as they oonoern less fibre
here, ore core realistic and the aanager receives regular repoxts in
which green, yellow and red rings indicate a safe or a dangerous
concentration at once cn the circulated reports.
At an afternoon session with the Works Dootor, Dr Stabler, it appeared that he worked closely with the Personnel Uanager who soetaed to be charged with the bufttfra of arranging for X-ray* and
`the problem of Interpreting the reports to the worker. Dr. stabler was frank In his admission of frequent oenfusien in the face of contradictory reports from medical institutions in the ihlladelphia area and welcomed a ooctact with another worker in this field,
lie was not familiar with any autopay studies and did not feel mush confidence in any looal medical authority except Dr. Pendergrass, a radiologist who contributes to Dr. Lansa'a book.
