I Kr. Vogelsang said that in 1945 a total of approximately 04,500 tons of tin <*r* used in this country, of which 5,643 tons were secondary. Of the secondary, about 3,600 tor.s were fro tin lr alloy scrap. This waa changed during 1945, with the thought that r^aoval of secondaries fron quota restrictions would bring out core tin in secondaries, which it did, lot * large part of this tin in secondaries is being used for unauthorized and illegal uses and therefore, the change is not actually accomplishing Its purpose. Hr. Foodln and Hr. Murdoch offered a suggestion that all tin, whetnsr prlnary or secondary, he placed on a quota relating to a base period to get the result in the consumption of tin desired by ha CPA, but that a w-xirmra percentage te placed on the portion of the quota that could be used as pig tin. This would prevent dipping into th Government tin pool any core than CPA desired. Hr.
