8. Alarms for dust build-up in ducts are not required.
9. The sinter machine outlet damper will be controlled by a draft signal taken from the hoed. The draft connection to the hood should be near the strong gas outlet.
10. The scope of Kaiser's work at the D&L baghouse will consist of:
(a) Connecting the ducts from the sinter/charge bin area and the bedding/reclaim area to the baghouse;
(b) Partitioning the inlet plenum of the baghouse into two groups of five sections each;
(c) Providing a self-standing stack (or stacks) for discharging the north five sections of the baghouse to atmosphere. The size and number of stacks should be as required to maintain draft in the baghouse. The height of the stack (or stacks) will be as required by the appropriate code. The stack supports are to be independent of the baghouse. Provide expansion joints be tween the baghouse and the stack(s). No addi tional loads are to be placed on the baghouse structure. Refer to Ewg KLS-4016 for a stack arrangement which could be adapted to our sit uation.
(d) Repair work to the D&L baghouse is not in Kaiser's scope, except that finished construction and seal ing is required at all points where Kaiser enters or exits the baghouse.
As mentioned above, the sinter machine outlet damper will be controlled by hood draft and not by 02. However, concern ing the SC2 analyzer, we new believe it would be best to sample the gas stream at the strong gas duct between the sinter machine and the hot gas fan. This is a change from the original idea of sampling at the exit of the cottrell. The SO2 recorder will : still be located on the sinter plant control panel, as originally planned.
Very truly your3.

EA-26-EP, N.Y. 3777 PLANT 618 ORE HANDLING & SINTER PLANT FILS 8.5 - DESIGN CRITERIA
Dear Mr, Meyer:
Attached in one print of Drawing 2H-21872 showing details of the 63" venturi for the East Helena gas cleaning plant.
Your cost estimate for the insulated duct from the sinter machine to the hot ga3 fan should include a venturi with in strumentation. This run of duct should be fabricated from Corten steel.
The coordinates and elevation of the inlet flange of the hot gas fan will be sent to you shortly. The steel which will support the duct will interface at the fan with structural steel being designed by others. For this we will need the re actions of the supports which Kaiser is designing.
It may also be desirable to use the duct supports for supporting pipe lines, conduits, etc., between the cottrell area and the sinter olant area.
Very truly yours.
