This is in ansvrer no your letter of .pril 30, 1973, concerning /our experience with the nevr wall texture formula. Thank you for taking ~ime to check out the .material so thoroughly and oendinr .ne ;rour comments. 1 will try to answer them one at a time.
tumps nen xixea: This product J.s a little more difficult to mix than the casein formula. .ov/ever, this has not been a problem in any of the field tests we haverun, where the Applicates were using mechanical mixAiP^r- - - .lien mixing by hand it is easier to mix it somewhat heavy (say at 70 parts water), then thin it down to a sprayable mix.
overage: The coverage in act .aim beach ana Tulsa ere ~.eual to or superior to the old formula according to the applicator. These ''ere corn spray applications. hTe raven*t had any field experience --ith brv.cn or roll tpplication as yet.
3. 'pray problems: "praying properties have been the most difficult part of the reformulation, .iany field trials have been run on formulations that did not. spray to suit the applicators particularly those who were using a "Glover'* spray machine. he pur erased one of these machines for the purpose of formulating a mater^Ll which it will spray. e have spent many '.weeks spraying with it, and also a Goldblatt hopper gun, various competitive materials, our casein material, and experimental formulas. e lave also done considerable field testing of formulas that uid not work, however, thii formula sprayed very well in the Glover .machine, very well in the hopper gun at all pressures down to 20 psi and very well in Tulsa and est Palm .-each. These contractors use very/ different spray techniques. In Tulsa they shoot a heavy splatter or heavy orange peel. In est I aim Beach they spray a very fine orange peel sprayed almost in a mist, he sprayed it as is and with paint added to it.

atering out: This formula does tend to settle overnight and a layer of water forms on top. However, it is easily remixed, and I don't believe it ./ill be a serious problem.
This of course is a completely different formula, since it contains no casein or asbestos, and so there may be some differences in some of the properties. 3ut since there is a savings of about 350 per bag in raw material costs, we v/ant to get this on the market as soon as possible. e no doubt^vdll pot various reactions from different aarkets and we may need to :aake adjustments zo suit as many customers as possible. o please pet the first batch out as guickly as you can.
