VCM EXPOSURES OF CHLORINATION HELPERS
We have monitored four Chlorination Helpers (C Control) in the month' of July for VCM exposure:; to determine the effect of shutting down the Acid Area. This group has had a history of higher than average exposures, although they theoretically hnve no direct contact with the vinyl chloride process area. As you pointed out, the most probable
source of VCM exposures to this group would have been in the Acid Area, which was shut down late in May. For comparison, I have tabulated Chlorination Helper exposures dating back to January 1, 1974. Note that for the first time (in any quarter), none of the four tests in ^Uly. 1975 exceeded the action level. (Second Quaiter 1975 exposures were probably influenced by the fact that the Vinyl plant was down for some time during this period.) All values arc reported an ppn^, Tlie date of test and master number of individuals tested are shown in each case.
