Founded m 1913 and recognized by Congress in 1953 with a Federal charter, the National Safety Council symbolizes the confidence and trust reposed by the U S Government to continue and increase its efforts in programs, products and practices that help make this a safer nation

injuries and improving safety, health and the environment in its three venues of focus, occupational/workplace, traffic and highway, and community and home.
We are a not-for-profit organization. We are nonpolitical and by federal charter do not contribute to or support any political party or candidate.
Nearly 90 years of experience has taught us that the key to reducing injuries on- and off-thejob is through prevention. The Council has initiated a Safety Agenda for the Nation, a progressive, proactive plan of action aimed at fostering awareness and prevention of
2 some of the most serious safety concerns in our country
A 32-person Board of Directors governs the National Safety Council, managing fiduciary and strategic affairs. The Board of Delegates develops the Council's mission agenda, creates policy and tracks safety, health and environmental trends. More than 3,000 volunteers, drawn from NSC membership, assist the boards in determining policies, operating procedures and programs to be developed and implemented by the Council's 300-plus professional staff.
Council member organizations employ more than 30 million people. Our 37,500 members and member facilities include businesses, labor organizations, schools, public agencies, private groups and individuals.
The International Safety Council, established in 1992, is an NSC-related entity that expands safety, health and environmental awareness to industries, associations and governments worldwide.
