This specification covers the painting and insulation of items and equipment as described in attached- Tank Outline Drawing. 1.2 DIVISION OF WORK A. The Contractors shall furnish all labor, equipment, tools, and qualified supervision as spelled out to do a complete job more fully described in attached specifications. B. All paint and insulation material is to be furnished by the Contractors. Material for cleaning contract equipment shall be furnished by Contractors. 1.3 BIDS j A. The Contractor shall submit a LUMP SUM PRICE for the performance of work as described herein. 1.4 JOB SCHEDULE A. The Contractor shall submit his bid to Mr. Leland Glasgow no later than September 26, 1986. B. The Contractor shall start work upon award of the contract to meet the field construction starting date. All work shall be completed in a minimum number of days. Expected starting date is October 27, 1986. All work shall be complete by December 22, 1986. 3 K019267 2.0 JOB INSTRUCTIONS 2.1 BUSINESS REQUIREMENTS A. Correspondence 1. All correspondence to the Company concerning technical matters shall be addressed to the Project Supervisor as follows: Koch Refining Company P.0. All correspondence to the Company concerning contractual or financial matters shall be addressed as follows: Koch Refining Company P.0. Box 2608 Corpus Christi, Texas 78403 ATTENTION: Mr. Leland Glasgow Purchasing Manager B. Bids 1. Sealed bids will be submitted to Mr. Leland I Glasgow. Bidder shall return his bid in the enevelope provided by Koch Refining Company, which is marked "SEALED BID". 2. Contractors shall visit the plant to familiarize themselves with the job site and working conditions, and submit a firm proposal comprehensively covering the project so that all proposals may be properly evaluated. Proposals should be based on conditions set forth in these specifications and attached drawings and be free of provisions contradictory to the intent of either. For job site visit, contact the Project Supervisor. 3. The Contractor shall return all specifications and documents issued to him under this' Exhibit with his bid. C. Contract Koch Refining Company's Purchase Order No. _______________ will be issued to cover the work as specified herein. K019268 Billing 1. Invoices for the work performed under this Purchase Order shall be clearly identified with the Job Title, Job Number, and Purchase Order Number. 2. Charges shall be broken down as directed by the Purchase Order. Working Hours The Contractor's working hours shall be 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The Contractor shall not perform any work on Saturday or Sunday, or any holiday observed by Koch Refining Company. Any deviation from these hours will be cleared with Koch Refining Company's Project Supervisor. 1986 Holiday Schedule Thanksgiving Day Floating Holiday Thursday, November 27, 1986 Friday, November 28, 1986 Security 1. The Contractor shall be responsible for the security of his materials, tools, and equipment. 2. Care, safeguard, and protection of material received from the Company becomes the Contractor's full responsibility after his acceptance and will not be replaced by the Company if lost, damaged, or stolen. 3. Plant entrance points, parking lot, and work and/or storage areas for the Contractor employees will be designated by the inspector. 4. All of the Contractor's employees shall be required to wear an identification badge. The badge shall be worn and displayed openly by the employees at all times while they are on the Company's property. It shall bear the Contractor's name along with an employee number. This number shall be recorded by the Contractor with the employee's name. This record shall be made available if requested by Koch Refining Company at any time during the progress of the job. This badge is furnished by Contractor. 5. Each vehicle entering this plant must have identification of company. Each vehicle and rig welder truck must have a vehicle pass. The Contractor will make the request for these passes K019269 5 to the Project Engineer. The number of vehicles used on the job shall be kept to a minimum. These passes shall be returned to the Project Engineer upon completion of the job. Payment shall be withheld until said passes are returned. G. Utilities Temporary restroom facilities, Skid-O-Kan or equal, shall be provided by the Contractor in -locations approved by the Company. The Contractor shall maintain such facilities in a sanitary condition and, upon completion of the job, repair the area acceptable to the Company. H. Miscellaneous 1. All material to be furnished by the Company will be transferred to the Contractor on a "Request for Material Transfer" approved by an authorized representative of Koch Refining Company Warehouse. The Contractor shall be responsible for the preparation of such request. Any deviation from this procedure should be cleared with Koch Refining Company's Refinery Engineering Department. 2. Subcontractors shall be subject to approval by Koch. Subcontractors shall conform to the regulations as specified by the specifications and attachments. ' kv K019270 6 3.0 SPECIFICATIONS The following specification is attached to and made a part of the Job Instructions: 3.1 Painting A. General The intent of this standard is to provide guidance in achieveing protection for the equipment against atmospheric corrosion and deterioration, to provide a uniform paint system that has a pleasing appearance, and to assure application in a workmanshiplike manner. B. Preparation of Surface 1. All surfaces to be painted shall be cleaned and freed of all grease, oil, rust, dirt, loose mill scale, and other foreign material. 2. All surface preparation shall be inspected by a representative of Koch Refining Company prior to painting. 3. Surfaces shall be primed the same day prepared. 4. Bagged sand shall be used on surfaces to be blasted. C. Pre-Painting Instructions 1. Paint shall not be applied to exterior surfaces before the morning dew has dried, during rainy or threatening weather, during periods of high wind, blowing dust or sand, when the relative humidity is above 85%, when the temperature is below 40`F or at such time that it will be exposed to freezing temperature before it dries, or when operating temperature of steel to be painted is above 125'F. 2. All paints shall be thoroughly stirred to insure uniform consistency. No pigment shall remain in the bottom of the container. Skins shall not be stirred into the paint under any circumstances. 3. No portion of the paint shall be transferred to other containers for applicaiton until the entire contents of the container is uniformly mixed. 4. Moisture in paint brushes or containers shall be avoided, thus avoiding coagulation of paint. K019271 7 T^v'r-^w'y avoided, thus avoiding coagulation of paint. D. Painting Schedule 1. Sandblast to white metal (SSPC-SP-5) (roof, shell, & appurtenances) 2. 3 DMT Amercoat Dimecote D-4 or Briners 565 (roof, shell, & appurtenances) 3. Roof & appurtenances only - 2.5 DMT Briners #4817 Tan Versatile Primer 3 DMT Briners #4801 White Versatile 3.2 INSULATION A. Insulation material shall be 2" thick fiberglass board secured with .020" thick x 3/4" wide stainless steel bands on 12" centers. B. Jacket shall be .024" thick corrugated (1 1/4" deep) aluminum secured with .020" thick x 3/4" wide stainless steel bands on 24" centers. C. i ' Jacket sheets shall be supported on the horizontal seam by the lower course with S-type clips spaced on 12" centers. Sheets shall overlap a minimum 2" at horizontal seams. Vertical seams shall be spaced a maximum 15'. Sheets shall overlap a minimum 3" at vertical seams. All jacket seams shall be secured with SS sheet metal screws on 6" centers. D. T-bar supports shall be welded to the tank shell at a maximum 40 ft. spacing around the circumference. All insulation and jacket bands shall be secured to the T- bars. In addition, jacket bands shall be supported with V-type clips that are riveted to the jacket. E. Mastic weatherproofing shall be applied at all openings through insulation such as nozzles, manuals, stairways, supports, etc. F. Breather springs are required on all insulation and jacket bands. * NOTE: Appurtenance defined as all nozzles, stairways, windgirders, etc. which protrude through the insulation. K019272
