Jones, TURNER BROTHERS ASBESTOS COMPANY LTD. J) X Mr. John Waddell. JPMcC/EAP Copies: JW/JHC GSS/KN/ADNJ/JFK/SHs CONFIDENTIAL 24th November. 1966 Revision of Asbestos Industry Regulations V. o It would be helpfl to know if there is any evidence tending to prove or disprove the existence of danger to health from handling, machining, grinding, abrading or packing of your company's finished products. Apart from the analysis of any dust count surveys which have been done in the factory area concerned, I should be interested in any medical evidence - e.g. the absence of disablement among men who have been exposed only to these processes. There is, I think, outside evidence of at least one case of mesothelioma in a man O whose only exposure consisted of employment for some months t continuously on trimming o r cutting of asbestos-cement sh e ets/b u t----- - ^ of course one or two associations of this kind are not convincing in themselves. Have you records of men employed for substantial periods on these processes only? If so, what, in general term s, do they show? You will appreciate that at this stage 1 am seeking only a brief digest of information - not a m ass of data, * \ John Wai
