Subject: European rail stakeholders' associations - briefing on PFAS
Importance: High
Dear Dear Kurt Vandenberghe,
On behalf of eight European rail associations, we would like to share with you our concerns on the per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) restriction proposal from the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA).
We have attached a three-pager briefing summarising the PFAS restriction proposal and its effects on the European rail sector. This briefing also promotes technical improvements to the
PFAS restriction proposal for a balanced approach. These improvements simultaneously protect the environment and support the economic viability of a sector that is key for the decarbonisation of transport and the EU economy.
We also share with you the 68-pager contribution of the European rail sector consultation on the PFAS restriction proposal we submitted in September 2023.
Should you have any questions, we are available for a meeting whenever you prefer.
Thank you for your attention,
Best regards,
