The General Committee on Special Programs was formed to oversee programs that have little to no direct oversight in the regular API dues budget structure. Two types of programs will report to this committee - (1) revenue generating programs, and (2)cost recovery (i.e. RASA subscription research programs) programs. I would predict that the majority of the GCSP time will be spent on revenue generating programs. For our existing four programs, I think most of the GCSP effort will be focused on progress and budget (i.e. yearly review and endorsement). A strawman committee charter, as well as the committee roster are attached. The 211 b, SHRC HPV & SSM programs in RASA will report to this committee, and a very brief overview of the four programs will be given at the meeting (RASA has 10 min to review all programs). This committee is likely to have the greatest impact on future subscription research programs, as outlined in the draft charter. The Feb. 23 meeting is primarily an organizational meeting, which is why the program briefings will be so short. Howard Feldman will present the RASA programs.
