The Honorable Sean Duffy Secretary U.S. Department of Transportation Ninth Floor, West Building 1200 New Jersey Avenue, SE Washington, DC 20590-9898
Dear Secretary Duffy:
We write to express our support for the application submitted by the City of Mandan, North Dakota to the Fiscal Year (FY) 2025 Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD) grant program. Thank you for your consideration.
If approved, the City of Mandan's application will fund the Mandan Proper Road Revitalization Project. The proposed improvements would bring new life to a historic part of the town and connect the community by reestablishing routes that have severely degraded. While the City has identified this project as a major need for years, the cost of the improvements has been prohibitive for its residents.
This effort includes the full street reconstruction of 93% of the 135-block project; the replacement of 15,000 feet of 1960's and 70's cast-iron and asbestos-cement water main pipes; the cast-in-place lining of 20,000 feet of clay sanitary sewer; and the replacement of 10,000 feet of reinforced concrete storm sewer. Along with these major infrastructure investments, the City will also be implementing the best safety practices identified in their recent Safe Routes to Services study. We believe that this project advances your goals of making travel in America more efficient and safe.
Accordingly, we hope this application receives your favorable consideration, and all of North Dakota's applications receive your full and fair consideration. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Please keep us informed of the review process, and feel free to contact us with any updates or inquiries you may have.
Sincerely,
John Hoeven U.S. Senator
Kevin Cramer U.S. Senator
Julie Fedorchak Member of Congress
