You may be certain that your suggestions will be considered in our deliberations on tin's important matter. Since the Commission's decision to ban these products under the Consumer Product Safety Act, the Commission staff has been gathering the necessary supplemental information for the Commissioners to consider in taking their final action. A staff briefing for the Commissioners relating to this material is scheduled for June 9. In addition, on June 15 the Commissioners are scheduled to hear from their counsel concerning the legal strategies involved in regulating asbestos-containing products. The entire matter is tenta tively scheduled for formal Commission consideration at its regular meeting of Thursday June 16. Members of your staff are cordially invited to attend these and all meetings of the Commission. I assure you that we are aware of the "imminent hazard" issue as it relates to consumer products containing asbestos and that legal action under section 12 of the CPSA will be fully considered.
