March 1, I/ TO: The VI Executive Board The VI Health, Safety & Environment Committee RE: Annual Vinvl Institute Award For Contribution To Safety Nominations Due By March 17, 1993 In 1984, the Executive Board approved the establishment of an annual award for contribution to safety. This award is meant to recognize the most valuable contribution to safety in the vinyl industry that has been made recently. Such a contribution may have been made available to the industry in general or may have been a unique program in an individual company that has proven successful and which that company now wishes to share with the industry at large. Nominations should be sent to my attention and received no later than March 17, 1993. A suggested format is attached, but nomina tions can be in any form (such as a letter) provided the requested information is contained therein. The Health, Safety & Environment Committee will evaluate all nominations and make its recommendations to the Executive Board for a final decision. The award will be presented at the Vinyl Institute Annual Meeting in May 1992. Voting on the nominations by the Executive Board will take place by letter ballot. The award will be presented at the Vinyl Institute Annual Meeting in May 1993. Since 1984, there have been five winners of this Vinyl Institute award: \c5 . J* / - 1992/Occidental Chemical Corporation for contributions made to the establishment of VCNet, the mutual aid program. - 1988/Dr. John Creech, Maurice Johnson and BFGoodrich Company for contributions in the early discovery and announcement of the link between vinyl chloride and angiosarcoma of the liver.
