K A oustomer oomplalned that a sample of Aroclor 1254 had an unusually low flash point;. A check-up Indicated that the product may have been contaminated with diphenyl. A sample was submitted for infrared analysis. A spectrum of this sample was obtained and compared to the spectrum of a good sample. Two strong bands in the fourteen micron region indicated diphenyl contamination in the order of several percent.
