West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey announced a challenge to Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin today, setting up a GOP primary showdown with Rep. Evan Jenkins.
Morrisey, who filed lawsuits against President Barack Obama's administration over environmental regulations, plans on running to Jenkins' right. In an announcement video labeling Morrisey a "conservative workhorse," the attorney general takes clear shots at the congressman and incumbent senator.
"Unlike my opponents, I've never supported Hillary or Obama or Obamacare or higher taxes, or cap and trade," Morrisey says to the camera in the video. "You'll never have to worry about me wavering in my conservative values."
The 2:30-long video also features Morrisey promoting gun rights, his work on the opioid epidemic and fights against the EPA.
"I'm proud to be a conservative workhorse, and I want to be your U.S. senator," Morrisey concludes the ad.
