I It was suggested that all cylinders ibe checked by Stores personnel for a valid hydrostatic test date prior to dispatching to the field. Gerry Brennan and Bob Keith will formulate a proposal for inspection and/or testing of acetylene cylinders. All cylinders on plant are to be inspected before the next Central Safety meeting. Consideration should be given to an annual audit. | All areas are encouraged to work at finding a substitute for "Perclene". Chlorinated materials will continue to appear on the carcinogen suspect list- Improperly labeled containers continue to be found. There were no unsatisfactory ratings on the housekeeping inspection. It was suggested that perhaps the inspection standards should be raised to the degree that the results include some unsatisfactory ratings.| The Chairman again emphasized that the minor nicks and scratches do not reflect the trend or status of the safety program. Emphasis must not be placed on minor injuries without potential - foremenjshould be de emphasizing the importance of minor injuries while insisting that all are treated. II Incident Reports Unusual Incident Reports 78-6 through 78-10 were reviewed. 78-6 is a good example of the beneficial information gathered as a result of declaring a happening an "unusual incident". | 78-7 - All cast iron traps in gaseous service have been replaced. | I 78-10 resulted in a medical treatment case injury (finger mashed between the flanges of two I-beams). Smith1 On Plant There were no injuries that resulted in either lost or restricted workdays. j Silver Dollars were awarded to 30 employees for questioning unsafe acts. | All area subcommittees are active with monthly programs. j Off Plant There were no off-the-job injuries in February that resulted in lost time. There have been three lost time injuries to date this year. j Safe "T" Bingo was announced March 1 j. The first off-plant safety newsletter was issued in February. Subsequent issues are to follow monthly. i Details of "Mug" program will be issued this week. Defensive driving refresher course will be available May 1. Plant Entrance Road Safety Bill Procter reviewed a near miss between an outgoing tank truck and an employee's car as he exited the "J" Line lot en route to the main parking lot. An incident report will be issued. ThejSafety group will study the entrance road situation and make recommendations to Central Safety. j Respiratory Protection Program - A. C. Vaught The program was approved and the committee complimented for a difficult job well done.
