Scimetcier Enclosed is a copy o f summary made of concentration cf the dust in the sir in the Libby mill in mil lions cf psrticies per cubic foot of air which extends over the period of March I, l$66 to august 26, i69. As you know, it has been our practice tc make monthly dust counts in these various locations. None have been made since the end of August when Wesley Nordin left us. As you also know, we have not found a replacement for him and have not had anyone available that could be trained to do this work. I am also enclosing a copy of the rules for the use cf respirators which includes the areas where It Is mandatory that these be worn. I believe that acceptance of these rules is quite good and the use of respirators in the areas where they are required is also quite good. I know that i and other supervisors are always on the lookout to see that these rules are being fol lowed, so that anyone not complying can be reprimanded at the time of the infraction. I am in agreement that It would accomplish very littie to have the people that Parks recommended have a six-months' follow-up on the X-rays. As you point out, *e do not know what to do if there is a minor change, and I think in most of these cases a change is not rapid enough to be detected in six months.
