Do you intend to ban consumer patching compounds with an asbestos ingredient? U NCIVE ME RESNATL We manufacture joint and taping compounds for industrial use using an asbestos ingredient. We have tried for some years to eliminate the asbestos content of our joint and taping compounds without success, spending thousands of dollars of wasted money. ,, JPTEERXTTEUXRE WINDOW TRIMS DOOR TRIMS In our country with our severe temperatures the asbestos is an essential part of the joint compound which prevents the material from cracking. A home owner purchasing a home or commercial buildings or government institutions specify that the wallboard joints be treated with the joint compound and finished with no visible cracks. The home owner purchasing a new home for over 160,000.00 has a right to demand that no cracks are in the joint compound. Workmen using our compounds with asbestos will not use asbestos free compounds as it increases there work load by 60$ and they feel the job is hard enough now. When we produced an asbestos free material and put it on the market the workman would go out and buy asbestos from a lumberyard and put it in the produet to make the material work easier to their satisfaction and not crack. g litter all colors if a ban is put on asbestos in joint compounds there will be literally dozens of bankruptcies among joint compound manufacturers. My own two firms will automatically go bankrupt as we have tried before to sell asbestos free material without success. A ban on joint or taping compounds with an asbestos ingredient which is controlled would be irresponsible on the part of the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
