For many years asbestos products have been used in pumps, ours as well as our competitors, for items such as packing and gaskets.
In recent years the hazards of certain forms of asbestos have become well pub licized. However, it is the overwhelming feeling of the Committee that asbes tos as used in our pumps should not be considered a health hazard.
In a separate package we ace sending to you samples of the following packing and gasket material:
John Crane Style 810 - which is described as being made of asbestos y a m with impregnated lubricant and graphite.
John Crane Super-Seal No. 1 - which consists of white metal particles, graphite, binder and special long-fiber asbestos.
Ace-O-Pax 1460 - which is described as manufactured of long fibre as bestos yarn thoroughly lubricated with a mineral ail lubricant and surface coated with either graphite or mica.
Anchor 317 - which Is described as asbestos packing lubricated and graph!ted.
Johns-Kanville CG 1 (formerly Style 255)- which is made of white as bestos y a m s lubricated with petroleum base wax and a graphite finish.
Compressed gasket sheet - unidentified but probably Anchor 6250 which is described as being made from South African blue asbestos fiber and compressed with a special rubber formula.
