As a result of the Consumer Product Safety Commission *s
investigation into the potential health hazard because of the-
utilization of asbestos materials as insulation in hair dryers,
we have been requested by the CPSC to urge return of: .those General'
Electric .units currently.in your inventory which are.listed on
the reverse side of this letter. If you have not already made
arrangements to return this merchandise, please contact your
General Electric Sales Representative as soon as possible. As
you know, v?e have discontinued shipping any hair dryers which . -
contain asbestos insulation and have established a retrofit pro
.j gram to convert all General Electric inventory of affected models
with mica insulation prior to shipping replacement merchandise
to you.

As v/e have previously indicated, we do not believe pur
units present, or could present, a health hazard. The Commission
has also asked us to urge you to ensure that your customers are
aware of the present controversy over using hair dryers v;hicn

contain asbestos insulation.
