Environment and Public Works Chairman John Barrasso said today he hopes to reschedule a markup on several EPA, NRC and federal highway nominees for next week.
Asked why today's scheduled vote was shelved, Barrasso told POLITICO "one of the members wanted to get a little additional information from one of the nominees," but he declined to provide further details.
But the chairman was likely referring to Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst, who declined to voice her support on Tuesday for air chief nominee Bill Wehrum.
Ernst's office did not respond to requests for comment. Republicans hold an 11-10 majority over Democrats on the committee so they cannot afford any defections.
The other nominations likely to get votes when the vote gets rescheduled include Michael Dourson for EPA chemicals chief, David Ross as head of the EPA water office, Matthew Leopold for EPA general counsel, Jeff Baran's re-nomination to the NRC and Paul Trombino's selection to be administrator of the FHWA.
WHAT'S NEXT: Barrasso hopes to schedule a vote on the various nominees next week.
