Oil Bath Cyooll Cleaner .earne Rogers P. 0. #A-67500-D-2S
Your Control 78771
We have installed on Worthington Compressors two of your Cycoil oil bath cleaners Slat 24'.,'03 oerial No. 1248125. One cleaner for each compressor.
'..e are attaching one print of S-R Co, Drawing 12321 showing installation of air cleaners. We are also enclosing a sample of deposit removed from inlet valve of first stage of the East Air Compressor.
The operation of the cleaners has been most unsatisfactory, and we are at a loss as to how such large particles of atmospheric dust continue to get into air compressor. Certainl; with such large deposits entering machines muoh larger quantities of fine material must enter compressors greatly adding to the wear on cylinder, pistons and valves.
Inlet piping was cleaned once by contractors and once by ASL3. Co. before compressors : wore put in service. Since that time and in less than a years operating time we have had . three forced compressor outages due to deposits similar to attached sample sticking inlet / valves and scoring cylinders.
Perhaps your cleaner is not suitable for compressors with free air unloading as used -h in Worthington Machine. I have used your cleaners at other company plants with complete satisfaction with speed governing.
If permanent solution to this defective operation of cleaners cannot be reached we will have to abandon the oleaner for 30me other type. Please refer to your letter to the- writer dated January 13, 1948.
Hoping for definite recommendations as early ms possible wo remain,
Yours very truly,
