The Senate today approved William Wehrum to be assistant administrator for air and radiation at EPA, filling a top vacancy in Administrator Scott Pruitt staff.
Wehrum was approved on a vote of 49-47.

Five other EPA nominees are currently awaiting Senate approval, including deputy nominee Andrew Wheeler, who had his confirmation hearing on Wednesday, as well as nominees to run the enforcement, water, chemicals and general counsel's offices.
WHAT'S NEXT: Wehrum will be sworm into his new position as early as this afternoon.
