DISCUSSION Tom Ballantine works in nonmetallic materials research under Fred Dawn. Art Ringwood is a GE employee in residence at NASA working with Dawn and Ballantine. They are involved in the space shuttle and skylab projects. Their interest is in light weight, high-heat distortion, fire-resistant plastic materials. We gave an RG-600 pitch which generated rapt attention and pointed questions, primarily concerning fire resistance. A request for samples was quickly changed to information on obtaining compounded samples from A. Schulman in Akron. Ballantine will contact Neal Kendall at Schulman.
