Your Ref : We wish to survey the policy, organ!zation, function, personnel and facilities of each company with respect to the acove intentions, and at the sarr-e tine, hope to have discussions on roles played by each company:s head office and laboratories for these intentions. It is our desire to pay a visit to several major chemical manufacturing companies well experienced in occupational hygiene and safety as well as in product safety, to associations and institutions related to chem icals and to governmental authorities. Names of several companies to which we wish to visit appear on the attached sheet. We would appreciate it if we will be able to discuss with pooTrle concerned in these companies their policy, the position they are currently in and the trend in the United States. In Japan, chemical industry is required to promote the improvement in administrative structure of occupational hygiene and safety in the manu facturing process. .it is also under pressure to set up a system to evaluate human safety of chemical products and to promote the strategy to prevent the environmental contamination by chemical products. in view that engaging in such promotion independently by individual company is difficult and unfeasible from standpoint of economy, person nel and time consumed, it is advisable that the promotion be carried out Jointly by chemical manufacturing companies belonging to Japan Chemical Industry Association. Individual company is also in need of improving its own administrative structure, facilities and personnel.
