Section I - INTRODUCTION
Migwis Operating, LLC / Bowen Inspection Dates: 04/30/2018
PURPOSE OF THE INSPECTION EPA Region 6 inspector K.W. Sanborn visited the Migwis Operating, LLC oil and gas facility located at the latitude 36.724163 and longitude -96.694542 near Burbank, Oklahoma on 04/30/2018 for an unannounced inspection. No representatives of Migwis Operating, LLC were present for the inspection. The inspection was conducted by authority of the Clean Water Act and the Safe Drinking Water Act to determine compliance with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations.
FACILITY DESCRIPTION This facility is known as the Bowen lease. This facility is identified as EPA ID No. OKU000865. This inspection was a follow up to a January 24, 2018 inspection conducted.
Section II - OBSERVATIONS During the inspection, I observed that a new leak from a flow line had occurred and flowed down the lease road west towards the tributary of Salt Creek. I observed high and strong flow in the tributary of Salt Creek. With a calibrated YSI 30 Pro Conductivity Meter, I took a Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) reading of 1,100 milligrams per Liter (mg/L) TDS in the tributary. I observed white salt staining and pools of brine along the flow path in the plowed field between the flow line and the tributary of Salt Creek.
Section III - AREAS OF CONCERN An additional leak occurred at this facility where produced water flowed west towards the tributary of Salt Creek. There was contaminated soil along the flow path and visible salt crystals. Additionally, slightly elevated TDS was found in the high flowing tributary.
Section IV - FOLLOW UP A follow up inspection will be conducted as needed.
