Dear Dr. Kehoe: I have your letter of January 26th regarding a remark of mine recently made to Mr. Siebenthaler about the possibility of a repetition of our former investigation being made sometime next year, etc. Mr. Mittnacht showed me your letter about the investigations you are presently pursuing. I am very much pleased with your opinion that such investigations will give us "the final solution of the question as to whether the handling of Ethyl Gasoline is in any way to be regarded as a measurable lead exposure". I did not intend my statement to Mr. Siebenthaler to convey the impression that I thought it would be advisable to have an investigation such as we formerly conducted repeated in 1935. I made the casual remark that in view of the fact that it would be the tenth year that Ethyl had been dis- . tributed without interruption in the state of Ohio that it might be v/orthwhile to consider such repetition. I certainly did not mean that-just because it was the tenth year that it should be done. j The character, extent, and scope of investigations to be con ducted by us concern a matter about which you are so much better qualified than anybody else to advise us, that I wish to assure you that there at no time has been the slightest notion entertained by me that we should do anything other than in general line with your recommendations. .
