Re: Results of area air samples during asbestos removal on pipe rack in CCU.
.Dear Bob:
To determine if asbestos fibers were being released outside the controlled area during the removal of asbestos insulation, from the pipe rack in the CCU, air samples were collected around the perimeter of the removal area. These samples were collected on July 24, 1985.
Results of laboratory analysis indicate airborne fibers levels at the boundaries of the removal area were essentially negative or at normal background levels for this unit. Based on these findings, it would appear that the areas adjacent to the demolition site are free from health hazards associated with this operation. Sampling results are contained in- the attached table.

All samples were collected with MSA model G pumps that were calibrated to a flow rate of two liters per minute. The collection media was 25mm, 0.8 micron MCE filters.
