Process Description: Fabrications Unlimited is a small metal fabrication facility. One of the fabrication methods used by the facility is plasma burning for cutting metals. The facility has a plasma burning table on the right back comer if its building which is connected to a stack that vents to the atmosphere. There are other vents to the atmosphere in the facility, but these are not in use by the present owners. The facility used to be a chrome plating facility before its present owners took over. The facility does not have a Clean Air Act minor source permit (or Permit to Install). TOUR INFORMATION EPA toured the facility: Yes Data Collected and Observations: EPA inspectors were driving near the facility on 12/4/2019 and recorded a video of an emission coming out of a stack, located at Fabrications Unlimited (11 :21 a.m.). The emission was plume yellow in color and lasted about 30 seconds, recurring about 4 times in an approximately 5 minutes period. Photos and/or Videos: were not taken during the inspection. A video was taken at 11:21 a.m. on Wednesday December 4, 2019. Two photographs were taken at 11 :22 a.m. on December 4, 2019. No photos or videos were taken on December 6, 2019. Field Measurements: were not taken during this inspection. CLOSING CONFERENCE Concerns: EPA inspectors showed Fabrications Unlimited' representatives the video that was taken prior to the inspection. Facility's representatives were informed that Michigan Department ofEnviro1111lent, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) was made aware of the emission observed by EPA and that the inspection report, photographs and video would be shared with EGLE.
