Johns-Manville Sales Corp, PROPOSED FEDERAL SPECIFICATION (INSULATION FELT, THERMAL Sc ACOUSTICAL, MINERAL FIBERS (DUCT LINING MATERIALS) 1, The committee agreed to limit the density (page 2 section 3, 3) from 3/4# to 3# for Type I and max, 8# for Type II. 2, Remove moisture absorption from specification or raise to 3,0%. 3, Change flame resistance (page 3 section 3. 11) to read flame spread* 4, Mr. C. Ernst thought that the sound absorption coefficients were to low. It was agreed to recirculate the specification for comments, 5, Add properties listed under 4. 3, 4 (the coating shall not become tacky or show evidence of returning to solution) to par. 3, 6 page 2. 6, Change speed of testing bond strength from 0, 5" to 5,f per minute, STANDARD METHODS OF TEST 1, It was decided that the list of standard methods of test was complete and could be given to the government agencies. 2, Jack Barnhart will change moisture absorption by weight instead of volume, 3, Delete ASTM C-336 procedures. FIBER DIAMETER IN MILITARY 8c FEDERAL SPECIFICATIONS 1. No decision was reached. It was decided to leave fiber diameter in Federal specifications. PRODUCT IDENTIFICATION 1 The committee agreed that a method had been given to the Directors as to product identification. Several members stated that their companies did not wish to mark their production material.
