MEDICAL DEPARTMENT August 15, 1974 2:00 P.M. MEMO TO FILE Received a call from Don Rennie this morning re: Winchester asbestos results. He said that Eric Feierabend was disturbed about the number of locations where high asbestos levels were found, and also that they appeared to be higher than past levels. I explained to Don that we had found high levels during previous surveys, and that as a result, the majority would show up as excessive. I also pointed out that the con centrations are about the same magnitude as previously found. Don suggested a table listing present and past levels as a comparison. X said that I would prepare one and send it out. Feierabend was also under the impression from Charlie Borcherding that our survey results are sent to the authorities (OSHA, I presume), and was disturbed as to what they would see. I assured Don that we absolutely did not transmit any of our data to OSHA, NIOSH, or elsewhere. He suggested that I call Feierabend, and give him all the above information, which I did. In talking to Feierabend, he said he had inquired of Mallory, Taylor, and others regarding transmittal of survey data to the authorities, and that they were also under the impression as given by C.H.B. that such data is routinely submitted. I assured him it was not, and asked that he convey this to the others. We also established that a meeting should be arranged between this office (me) and Division Engineering to discuss ventilation requirements, exposure locations, et al.
