TAC is reviewing its long term options in its asbestos roofing felt and paper business. Although Mr Read's letter refers to your interests in glass based products, my request to you concerns asbestos products. I should like to explore the possibility of TAC drawing supplies for some grades of asbestos felts and papers from Johns-Manville. This might allow us to achieve economies in the production of the wide range of such products which we handle. As you already know, Schuller Company of German, a wholly-owned subsidiary of JM have licensed Pilkington Regina to produce fiber glass mat products in the United Kingdom. It is our opinion that glass mats will gradually replace asbestos for roofing, shingles and as under-lament for vinyl floor covering. I am sure if you write to Dr. Blair explaining in detail your long term plan regarding asbestos roofing felts, he would be most happy to assist you in making some recommendations and advising you the -route that'JM is proceeding.
