Dear colleague,
On behalf of the governments of Canada and Germany, we are pleased to invite you to the 2018 Strategic Dialogue of the Carbon Market Platform. The Dialogue will take place on September 21 and 22, 2018 at the Lord Nelson Hotel, 1515 South Park Street, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. We expect two representatives per delegation to participate.
The Carbon Market Platform brings together a diverse group of countries and non-state actors each year to discuss how to develop and implement carbon pricing and carbon market mechanisms. Since its establishment in 2015, the annual Strategic Dialogue has grown to include senior officials from more than 20 countries and international organizations.
We are inviting senior representatives (Director General or equivalent) to share knowledge and best practices on carbon pricing implementation, including common political, technical and institutional challenges. The Dialogue also seeks to discuss potential synergies between domestic and international market mechanisms, without prejudice to ongoing negotiations under the Paris Work Programme.
We will follow up with an administrative notice in the coming weeks that will provide detailed information on the agenda, ground transportation, and dinner menu options.
We have reserved a block of hotel rooms at the Lord Nelson Hotel for your convenience. Follow this link to book your
room at a preferred rate of CAD 189 + taxes. Please note that space is limited and rooms will be booked on a first come,
first served basis. Should you wish to stay elsewhere, please find below a list of other hotels in proximity to the event's
