N. Gann M. R. Stenzel - Dallas SUBJECT: Proposed Industrial Hygiene Monitoring Plan For 1985 - Bay City Plant Attached is the proposed industrial hygiene monitoring plan for 1985. The plan includes plantwide surveys for propanol, butanol, carbon monoxide, acetic acid, propionaldehyde, butyraldehyde, noise and samples for miscellaneous contaminants. A validated method exists for propanol. This method can probably be validated for butanol thus allowing the two contaminants to be monitored simultaneously in many cases. Similarly the acetaldehyde method can probably be validated for propionaldehyde and butyraldehyde. These contaminant can also be monitored simultaenously in many instances. I recommend we use long-term Drager Tubes for acetic acid monitoring until a validated method can be developed. You can readily see this is a broad and ambitious plan. As in the past, we will work together closely on specific short term goals and priorities.
