1977 CAPITAL BUDGET Aberdeen PVC Plant Safety Equipment $14,000 Capital Project Description Funds are requested for the purchase of plant safety equipment. The specific items for which funds are requested are: t 1. Combustible Gas And Oxygen Indicator 2. 5-30 Pound Dry Powder Fire Extinguishers 3. High Temperature Fire Entry Suit 4. 2 - Aluminized Turnout Coats And Helments 5. 6 - Constant Flow Personnel Samplers 6. 2 - Cobl Entry Suits 7. 4 - Safety Shower And Eye Wash Units 8. The combustible gas and oxygen indicator will be used by plant operating and safety personnel to insure safe equipment operation and entry procedures. 2. The dry powder fire extinguishers will be used in fire training and to provide backup for existing devices. 3. The high temperature fire entry suit will provide a second unit for emergency rescue. The 1976 budget allows for purchase of one suit. The second suit is needed for backup. 4. The two aluminized turnout coats are required to fully equip plant fire fighting crews. The plant has been purchasing a portion of the required equipment each year for the past several years. 5. The constant flow samplers will replace worn out sipin pumps for use in personnel VCM dosimetry. 6. Because of the potential for VCM exposure, personnel involved in reactor cleaning must wear impervious suits. Cool suits are available which will permit personnel involved in reactor cleaning to safely and comfortably do this job. DTH 000044068 A-15 Page 2 7. Additional safety showers and eye wash units are required in the Compound Line I Area, the Compound Line III Area, the VCM Tank Farm and the Fire Training Ground Area. 8. Respiratory equipment is required to provide for potential new interpretations of the OSHA regulation on respiratory approvals.
