Best, Samantha From: Adam J White [mailto:ajwhite@stanford.edu] Sent: Thursday, April 06, 2017 3:17 PM To: Dravis, Samantha <dravis.samantha@epa.gov> Subject: Speaking Invitation: A discussion with Administrative Pruitt on the EPA and American Constitutionalism Dear Samantha, As I mentioned, Stanford University's Hoover Institution has created a speaker series on "American constitutionalism." I don't mean legalistic Supreme Court analysis; I mean constitutionalism in the most general sense -- that is, on how America governs itself. Each month, I host a featured speaker to discuss everything ranging from the Supreme Court to religious liberty to the administrative state. Needless to say, Administrator Pruitt would be an ideal speaker, given his bold agenda of reforming and modernizing the EPA. And so I am writing to invite him to come here and give a speech on his vision for the EPA. The basic format would be for Administrator Pruitt to give some opening remarks, and then he and I would have a friendly conversation for about 40 minutes. We can do audience Q&A, too, if he'd like, but it's not required. We hold these events in the Hoover Institution's DC office, near the White House. Our conference room fits about 80 people seated, plus another 20-40 people standing or in the spillover room. They are broadcast on YouTube and recorded. C-Span has covered previous 17cv1906 Sierra Club v. EPA - 6/22 Production ED 001523 00008737-00001 events -- I've done similar interviews with people ranging from Senator Mike Lee to professor Randy Barnett to author J.D. Vance. (Our next speaker, in May, will be a prominent rabbi, Meir Soloveichik, to discuss religion and the state.) Ideally, our event would be in May, but I'd be happy to do it anytime that he wants. We tend to do them either at midday or at the end of the day, but we could also do it in the morning if he'd like. The only dates that currently are not available in May are: May 3,9, 10, 17 (evening), and May 4, 11 (moming/midday). Best, Adam Adam J.
