Madama and discussed the pro perties of a . non-chlorinated impregnant. C.R. Coleman has perfectly understood which characteristics ICAR are looking for. However ICAR do not know any Pirelli test method but they run their own test on plastic film capacitors impregnated. Because of the test conditions they realized that part of the poor performances of HB - 40 could be attributed to the difficulty of impregnating plastic film capacitors. Ing. Ma- dama in spite of what I mentioned of the ideal structure of a suitable impregnant is going to start a new test with HB-40 tomorrow. Regarding the work of Pirelli on hollow-core high- voltage cables he commented that capacitors operate at much higher stress. . Mixoflex: according to Prodelec literature Mixoflex is "synthetic oil obtained by selective alkylation of very pure benzene": its viscosities are: 160 cs at 25 C., 5 cs at 100C. ICAR have tested Mixoflex and preliminary results have been un satisfactory as well. - Prices: ICAR are prepared to pay a maximum of Lit. 1000/Kg. a synthetic impregnant with excellent'properties; an acceptable fluid should be offered at Lit. 500'VKg. ' .......... In conclusion ICAR are greatly interested in finding out urgently a new type of synthetic impregnant and are devoting a lot of work to this purpose. They understand that we can not carry out any required test at Ruabon but are ready to test themselves any fluid we want to recommend. They only ask for urgent supply of our fluid candidates.
