The purpose of this aeries is to compare the tint retention of SUP formulas containing basic carbonate white lead against no basic carbonate and substituting basic silicate white lead plus 414 leaded zinc for the 412 leaded zinc and basic carbonate con tained in the base formula. In the last group 414 is substituted on an equal zinc oxide poundage and the basic silicate on an equal volume .basis. The following tints were prepared, with tinting colors shows Base 459 Beridey fellow - Bf 40, ST 10, CB 70SS Rex 465 Colonial fellow-ST40, BO 1, CB 706$ Rex 474 Chelsea Gray Rex 473 Geneva Creaa - CB 7063, S 40 - Bf 40, H 10, 10 4 Rex 496 Ivory - El 20, 1, BO 4, Bf 40 One SUP with no basic carbonate has been shaded to each of the above tints using the shading bases which are sheen on the formula cards.
