Main Street Norfolk, Virginia 23501 September 14, 1978 EXXON WASHINGTON Dear Sir: The EXXON WASHINGTON, O.N. 273896, will enter a shipyard on or about October 12, 1978 for biennial inspection, dry docking, ABS 4 year hull survey, and repairs. The Coast Guard Certificate of Inspection will expire on October 14, 1978. The tail shaft was last drawn in September 1974 at Newport News, Virginia and has operated satisfactorily since that time, and it is in compliance with 46 CFR 61.20-15 (b) (3). Based on the above and in accordance with 46 CFR 61.20-15 (3), it is requested that the drawing of the tail shaft be extended for two years. At the dry dock period mentioned in the above first paragraph, the requirements 46 CFR 61.20-15 (3) (2) will be complied with. 46 CFR 61.20-15 (e),(2),(3),and (4) were conducted at the vessel's tail shaft drawing September 1974. It is also requested that the present due date of September 1978 be extended to coincide with the Certificate of Inspection expiration date pending the granting of the two year extension.
