Th is man i s a 31 year old n egro, who pr eviou sly worked fo r the Tennessee Valle;/- Auth ority. Upon employment h is examin ation showed him to weigh 142 pounds, blood pr essu r e - ,130/80^ vision - somewhat im p air ed and ser ology - n egat ive. His e ar , nose and t h r oat examination was n egative, as were th e h ear t and lu n gs. No h ern ia was found.
He st ar t e d to work in the Forming Department and f i r s t st a r t e d to complain May 31, 1945, when he st at e d he had some n ausea, headaches fo r th r ee weeks and poor ap p e t it e . His w eigh t was 134 pounds, had a lead lin e and smear showed c e l l count o f fou r c e l ls per f i f t y f i e l d s .
He was n ext examined September 14, 1945 and h is weight was 142 pounds and s t i l l complained o f stomach d ist r e ss, some headache and d iz z i n e ss. The t eet h s t i l l showed a lead" lin e and h is st ip p le d c e ll count was
r eported as t en . Check on smear on September 18, 1945 showed c e l l count of ten again .
Ten days l a t e r h is c e ll count was seven and he s t i l l had the o r igin al complaints and was t r an sfe r r e d to Charging Department. On Oct ober 3, 1945 he was again checked and h is bowels had n ot moved fo r th ree
days and s t i l l had d ist r e ss in the stomach. His c e l l count was fou rteen on t h is d at e .
On October 5, 1945 le ad and urin e samples were taken and sen t to your lab or at or y and papers file d with the In d u st r ial Commission a s a
case of lead poison in g.
