NOVEMBER 10-12, 1971, ROCHESTER, NEW YORK
Meeting waa opened by Chairman, Clay Thompson of Taoaaeo. Fine ordar of business waa review of nlnutaa of pracaadlog meeting with correction made. Mr, Madden of Firestone Indicated his previously submitted minutes for February 10-11, 1971 meeeing required correction eo denote that M. G. Glenn of General Tire waa eleeced Vice Chalraan lnatead of T. K. Cbrlacanaon (Dow).
New maabara were welcotaed eo the Aaaoelaelon and Included Norsk Hydro, Pronoclonaa Induatrlalaa of Mexico, Shall Chemical, and PPG Xnduatrlea. Air Produeca and Eacambia memberahlpa were conaolidaeed Into one membership and denoted aa Air Produeca. A aeaberahlp count aa of November 10, 1971 ahowed 27 mamberahlpa in good standing, 0 delinquencies, 2 potential memberships. Attendant ae the meeting were 47 representatives of 27 member companies.
Chairman Thompson upon advice of the executive committee reconended that further work or arrangements to efface an affiliation or aaaoelaelon with the SPE or (SFZ) be terminated because of the following fundamental reasons:
By-laws of VCSA require the VCSA to be an Independent group non-affiliating with any oeher organisation or group although it may cooperate with other organ izations in specific projects of llartted duration. Affiliation then would violate ehe bylaws and put us in Jeopardy of losing several camber companies. This lose was felt to be too great a sacrifice since ehe participation of all manufacturers waa fele to be necessary to form aa effective and cohesive Association.
Other reasons were also given for non-affiliation and included problems of record and note keeping. Original intent of the Association was eo emphasise personal record and note keeping rather than official records which would be re quired la aa affiliation arrangement. Also problems of initiation fees and annual dues would be complications to affiliation.
A vote waa taken on the executive committee raconmmndation for aon-afflllatloa and ehe membership unanimously agreed to accepc it.
The nominating eoMittee of Dowell (Goodrich), Trowbridge (Goodyear), and Xllff (Uniroyal) proposed the following slate of officers for ehe 1972 year:
K. G. Glenn
R. A. Aatl H. G. Smith J. C. Florae --O. Robert Mshall
General Tire
Stauffer Chemical Ethyl Corp. Great American Hooker Chemical
Chairman Vice Chairman Program Chairman Treasurer Secretary
The membership voted unanimously to accept the above nominees aa officers for 1972.
