C. j30 < Subject: Paint Storage Williamsburg Houses Project H-1301 Dear Mr. Milkv/ick: We have your letter of August 6th advising that the Hew York City Housing Authority is contemplating the setting up af a storeroom at Williamsburg Houses for the storage of paints and oil, this storeroom to carry paint and oil for the entire Hew York City housing program. I am having Mr. Bullard of our Hew York Inspection Department investigate this situation and advise us as to whether or not additional protection beyond what is being planned should be provided to take care of the situation. Of course, as far as your policy conditions are concerned, there is no question about lapse of protection or. voiding of the policy, but I know that you appreciate that we wish to investigate special hazards of this sort and advise how best to protect them in a manner which will make them fire-safe. Just as soon as we have Mr. Bullard's comments we will pass them along to you, with suitable copies to be sent to the interested people. It would seem to us off hand with a volume of some three thousand gallons of paints, thinners and oils, that the storeroom should be equipped with automatic sprinkler system.
