I am enclosing the final listing of hair dryers, showing those models containing asbestos and those without asbestos. As you can see from the list, most of the manufacturers have agreed to some form of recall, repair, or refund for models containing asbestos. The specific programs vary from manufacturer to manufacturer because- . the programs~are voluntary -- not mandatory. ~ Since you are concerned about the safety of hair dryers, you may also be concerned about the safety of other products in the home. GE will either retiont with a non asbestos liner G p hair dryers which are asbestos instated or replace them with a suitable one after they are brought to their small appliance service location^ by concerned consumers. Uru|s must be in good working to be replaced. If consumer first contacts GE and then sends dryer to a designated service center, consumer will be reimbursed for postage. Dryers in inventory were retrofitted to remove the asbestos --these dryers were marked: CONTAINS NO ASBESTOS.
