Griffin ofTexas, Inc. are pleased to submit to you our proposal for the above referenced project as follows. For consideration of the lump sum payment to D.H. Griffin of Texas. Inc. in the amount of Five Hundred Fifty One Thousand Six Hundred and Fifteen Dollars (S551.615.00). We will perform the demolition and dismantling of the Sinter Plant. Cadmium Baghouse, the Dross/ Blast Furnace, the Roaster Building and the Conveyor to the Roaster Building, the Reverb Furnace, the Kilns, Lead Plant and other miscellaneous structures and equipment designated for demolition on our Februaiy 5th and 6th, 1996 site visits. All removals will be down to the slabs or equipment bases on grade, no concrete slabs, equipment bases, foundations or footings are included in our proposal. Other than those that may be required for access to our work areas. All demolished scrap iron and miscellaneous equipment will become the property of D.H. Griffin of Texas, Inc. and removed form ASARCO property as it is demolished. Our plan includes the demolition and removal of the concrete block buildings housing the electrical pment and switch gear in the Sinter plant, we feel that after careful evaluation that this is the \tfifecfive vvav for ASARCO to handle this work. Should ASARCO decide to save these j be necessary to add an additional Forty Thousand Dollars ($40,000.00) to our proposal is the handling and or removal ofany hazardous or toxic materials. ASARCO ELP 0010339 the cleaning of the facilitates prior to demolition, the disposal of any creosote timbers or lumber, the demolition of any concrete slabs on grade, concrete foundations or footings, the disposal of any brick or masonry materials. Our anticipated time frame for the above described demolition and dismantling is twelve (12) months, we feel that with the proper coordination of ASARCO workers and other contractors this schedule can be realized. The quoted prices reflect anticipated changes in the scrap iron market due to the unknown time frame of each parcel ofwork. Ifthe project is awarded to D.H. Griffin of Texas, Inc. as a whole and to be perform at one time, we will perform all work for the quoted lump sum price of Five Hundred Fifty One Thousand Six Hundred and Fifteen Dollars ($551,615.00). ASARCO ELP 0010341 Safety Perimeter/ Safe Work Place Before work starts in any area a safety perimeter will be established, the safety perimeter will be identified by OSHA approved barricading tape, the areas will be posted and only authorized ASARCO, Inc. and D.H. Griffin of Texas, Inc. personnel will be allowed in the work areas. Each safety perimeter will be established to cover an area that affords safe passage to ASARCO employees and others, it maybe necessary to include some roadways in the perimeter which will require the detouring of vehicle traffic around the work area. All D. H. Griffin ofTexas, Inc. employees will be required to where the proper respiratory protection at all times while torch cutting and have their respirators on their person while on ASARCO property. While any work is being preformed four (4) feet or more above ground level a 100% tie off policy will be used, fall protection equipment will consist ofa Hill body harness and two (2) shock absorbing lanyards. All D.H. Griffin of Texas, Inc. employees and any others entering the work areas will be required to wear steel toed shoes, hard hats, safety glasses with side shields and have a half face respirator on their person. This will be our minimum safety requirement in order to enter our work area. A written fall protection work plan will be developed for each work area. A copy will be given to the ASARCO representative and also posted onsite. Our policy is to conduct a ten (10) minute Toolbox Safety Meeting each morning before the start ofwork, these meetings are documented each day and a copy will be made available to the ASARCO representative. ASARCO ELP 0010342 Work Plan for the Demolition of the Sinter Plant After the removal and or rerouting of utilities and the cleaning the buildings has been completed by ASARCO, Inc., D.H. Griffin of Texas, Inc. will processed with the isolation of the Sinter Plant. In addition line breaking of closed system piping will occur prior to the removal of any structures or equipment. We also feel that it is more cost affective for ASARCO to remove the two crusher units that are being retained prior to the start of demolition. Once all ofthe above has been accomplished demolition will begin in the area of the recuperative air heater and progress in a southwest direction until the Sinter Plant has been completely demolished. Methods ofdemolition will be by use of cutting torches, hydraulic excavators equipped with grapple attachments and mechanical shears, where required we will use conventional cranes for lifting down section of the structures, equipment removal and balling. Protection of adjacent properties and ASARCO ELP OOI0343 Work Plan for the Demolition of the Zinc Plant/ Kiln Area After the removal and or rerouting of the utilities in this area and the cleaning of the buildings has been completed by ASARCO, Inc., D.H. Griffin of Texas, Inc. will proceed with the isolation of all buildings, structures and equipment in the Zinc Plant, in addition line breaking of closed system piping will occur prior to the removal of any structures or equipment. It will also be advantages to the project if ASARCO removes the blower between the Zinc Baghouse and the #2 Tube Cooler prior to the start of work in that area. Once all ofthe above has been accomplished demolition will begin with the systematic removal of the Zinc Fuming Plant Baghouse which will be demolished by use of a crane equipped with a three (3) ton wrecking ball and a hydraulic excavator and a grapple attachment. Demolition will begin on the North end ofthe Baghouse and progress in a Southerly direction until complete, the resulting debris will be loaded onto ASARCO supplied transportation for removal to the ASARCO landfill. The lead dust bin must be demolished or removed in order to safely complete this work. Once the Baghouse has been demolished we will demolish the #2 U Tub Cooler, will then demolish the Kiln Building by use of the hydraulic excavator equipped with a shear and grapple attachments. Our plan is to work around the existing duct that is supported by the Kiln Building by leaving a portion of the building standing, we will torch cut the structure in this area and lift out sections in order to preserve the integrating of the duct supports. We will also do the same for the tube cooler structure closest to the substation. All other removals in the Zinc Plant/ Kiln Area will be performed . by use of the torch cutting and hydraulic excavator method. : All adjacent buildings, structures, railroad tracks and roadways will be protected by use of wooden crane mats, steel plates and scaffolding where required. ASARCO ELP 0010344 Work Plan for the demolition of the Conveyor to the Roaster Building Once ASARCO, Inc. has removed or rerouted the utilities form the legs of the conveyor system we wall dismantle the conveyer and sectionalize it into manageable pieces and lift them to the ground by use of a conventional crane. We will preserve the conveyor structure as required. Wooden ties form the conveyor will be loaded onto ASARCO supplied transport for disposal at the ASARCO landfill. ASARCO ELP 0010345 Work Plan for the Demolition of the Roaster Building, Reverb Furnace and Flue Once ASARCO, Inc. has completed the removal and or rerouting of all utilities including the natural gas line form the structures, we will isolate the structures and equipment, in addition line breaking of all closed system piping will be preformed prior to the start of any demolition. We will then begin the demolition of the Roaster Building by use of the torch cutting method, along with hydraulic excavators equipped with the shear and grapple attachments. Our plan is to demolish this structure on a level by level bases starting on the top floor and work the building down to the ground level, all equipment will be removed from the structure as the demolition progresses. Once this work is completed we will demolish the No. 1 Reverb Furnace utilizing the same method. All adjacent properties, structure, buildings, railroad tracks and roadways will be protected by use of wooden crane mats, steel plated and scaffolding where required. ASARCO ELP 0010346 Work Plan for the demolition of the Cadmium Baghouse Once ASARCO, Inc. has removed and or rerouted all utilities from this area we will begin the demolition of the Baghouse by use of the cutting torch method, our plan is to prepare the structure for a controlled drop. Once the structure has been prepared we will attach steel cables to the structure framing and pull the Baghouse to the ground using the hydraulic excavator, the Baghouse will then be cut up for removal. ASARCO ELP 0010347 Work Plan for the Demolition of the Blast Furnaces Drossing Building and Lead Casting Building. Once ASARCO, Inc. has completed the removal and or rerouting of the utilities in this area including the utilities on the duct between the Blast Furnace and the Drossing Building we will isolate the buildings and structures in addition line breaking of any closed systems piping will be preformed prior to the start of any removals. Demolition of the Blast Furnace will be preformed by use of a hydraulic excavator equipped with grapple attachments, all debris resulting from the Blast Furnace demolition will be loaded onto ASARCO supplied transport for disposal at the ASARCO landfill. The Lead Casting Building will demolished utilizing the same methods. The Blast Furnace and Dross Reverb Baghouse will be demolished by use of a conventional crane equipped with a three (3) ton wrecking ball. Once this is completed all ofthe resulting debris will be loaded onto ASARCO supplied transport for disposal at the ASARCO landfill. ASARCO ELP 0010348
