LEAD - CANCER
I attended a 1-day research workshop cosponsored by EPA and ILZRO. EPA is working on classification and quantitation of lead and its compounds as carcinogens. ILZRO has a number of research programs armed either directly or peripherally at the question. The specific request of Du Pont was to make available the data from the 2 year feeding studies with lead acetate. I agreed that we would work toward that goal - EPA feels that the studies are the best available and ILZRO supports dissemination of that information. A key to the findings appears to be the relationship between kidney damage and kidney cancer.
Goyer (UNC) has a research program along these lines and could serve as a resource here.
EPS - we need to outline a course of action.; I 11 interact with Jerry Cole (ILZRO) and Sill Fariand (EPA) to get some idea of timing .
