"BDTCTTW-G*. Winner of the GREAT WESTERN HANDICAP TX7HEN the last bird of the Great Western Handicap had spun from its trap, when the last shot had boomed out on the Colorado air, it was found that George Lewis, of Perry, Oklahoma, had won the event from the 23- yard line with a score of 98 x 100, made with Climax shells. And the main event was not the only event carried away by a Climaxian. Not by a long shot! During the four days of shooting in this greatest of western tournaments the old reliable Climax stood the test like the veteran it is. Frank McGanney, high professional in the Great Western Doubles Championship, shot Climax shells as did George Jewett, who was high professional in the 16-yard singles (198 x 200) and also on all targets (958 x 1000). Of the long runs registered with Climax shells during the tourna ment, those of E. C. Griffin, Seattle, Wash., and Jewett & are especially notable. GrifEn ran 259. Jewett shattered 156 straight, missed one bird and then broke 165 more. g ' W. JEWETT Try the Climax yourself. GEORGE LEWIS Winner of the Handicap T2ELOW is Jack Burnside, president of the Denver Municipal Trap Club, under whose auspices the Great Western Handicap tournament was held. He and Earrl Cooley, also of Denver, broke the pro gram of 100 in the Denver Introductory and made other fine scores as well. And they . did it with the Defiance shell. In writing u-s of his shoot ing with the Defiance, Mr. Burnside says: "I mention my scores to emphasize the dependability of the Defiance shell. I shoot it wherever available."
