I know how busy you are, but I was hoping that you could get me started on the process of requesting a meeting with Administrator Pruitt for my client Northern Star Generation. Northern Star operates power plants that bum coal waste from piles near abandoned coal mines in Pennsylvania. In addition to eliminating the risk of the uncontrolled combustion of these piles, these plants use the alkaline coal ash from the energy generation process to reclaim the abandoned mines, reducing the acidity of the soil and eliminating acid mine drainage. Because these plants are a key piece of coal waste and acid mine drainage cleanup, they save millions that would otherwise have to come from state and federal abandoned mine cleanup funds. Unfortunately, the continued operation of many of these plants are threatened by regulations promulgated by EPA during the previous Administration, and they are hopeful that this Administration can clarify the application of these rules to allow these plants to continue to provide multimedia environmental benefits. We met with Samantha Dravis and Brittany Bolen on this issue a few months ago, and I understand that EPA has heard from members of the Pennsylvania delegation, as well. Thanks for considering this -- I know the demands on the Administrator's schedule are immense! Please let us know how best to proceed with this request. Karen 17cv1906 Sierra Club v.
