The Ruberoid Company NXMA STANDARD METHODSCOfFTESTS The list dated 6/1/63 was discussed and several minor changes were noted. INDEPENDENT LAB TESTING Mr. R. M. Lander*s letter ci May 24, 1963, to Mr. V. L. Miller r41ating to pipe testing was discussed. A copy at this letter will be seat to all Committee members for perusal. PROPOSED REVISION TO HH-I-523 Tlie draft of this specification dated 7/1/63 was discussed. Various government agencies seem to bo in favor of writing product specie firatirais wherein classes of pipe insulation are based on various jackets or systems at Jackets, ft was the consensus the Molded Section that they wore definitely opposed to this philosophy of classifying pipe insulation. /4 motion was made and unanimously passed that a group of individuals moot with A. Graul of the Bureau of Yards and Docks and attempt to change his mind pertaining to this philosophy. 2 With respect to the sampling, packaging, assurance quality provision* and inspection levels in all specifications, it was deemed necessary that the industry select proper levels of inspection, etc., that it feels is equitable to all concerned. Letters from M. Streepy and K. P. Hoopos to the Bureau of Ships an this subject will be circulated to the Committee. This subject will be placed on the Ager. la of the ncsS Committee Meeting and a definite conclusion will be reached on this subject at that time. A letter ballot will be sent to the Comr littee pertaining to the following specification changes. Whatever the consumer specifies, the manufacturer will supply. 2. In specifications, when practical, the Committee recommends facing*. 3. A standard list of facings would serve no useful purpose. OTHER BUSINESS Xt was suggested that the NIMA Government T & R Committee members located in Washington, D. C,, should act for the industry when discussing specifications prepared by the Committee.
