Dear Mr. Westons ,.- "
In response to your telephoned request of Saturday,
November 1J, we are enclosing with this letter two copies
of a preliminary report which describes some of the results obtained during the dust study conducted for your committee. The data h a ^ b e e n presented in tabular form and in approxi mate chronological Order, the various plants being indicated by code numbers. The plant identifications can be obtained from the numbering code which has been typed on a separate sheet and which is also included with this letter.
It will be seen that all of the dust counts are completed. The only work remaining to be done Is that of determining the free silica content of the dusts collected at the breathing levels at the dustier jobs in the plants. These analysis will be made by x-ray diffraction and will require a period of at least three weeks for completion. It Is planned also to check a few of these analysis by means of the Talvitie chemical method. Preliminary examination of the dusts collected in plants #1 and #2 indicate that the
free silica contents were between i*0% and $0%
We trust that the preliminary report is satisfactory for your purposes and that it will be used in accordance with the note appended to the report.
Very truly yours,
0
