:v t /V-X ETHYL CORPORATION INTER.OFFICE CORRESPONDENCE TO Dr. R. A. Kehoe f r om o. Jones SUBJECT Vitol addr ess addr ess dat e Cincinnati New York November 30, 1948 Dear Dr. Kehoe: The following paragraph is quoted from A1 Bingham's interview report of November 2nd covering conversations with the president and chief engineer of Canfield Oil Company, Cleveland: "Mr. Hodous (chief engineer) called my attention to a report turned in by one of the coiapany salesmen concerning the Thompson Vitaraeter. The salesman reported that one of his dealers had been solicited by a salesman offering to sell him a capsule con taining a mixture of alcohol, water and lead. Mr. Hodous wanted to know if we were selling lead for this purpose. The idea of the capsule is to place the properties of the Thompson brand of antiknock fluid into the gas tank without the use of the expen sive Thompson Vitameter." This definitely looks like some sort of chicanery, and if widespread efforts are being made to sell such a capsule, we can no doubt obtain samples for analysis. My purpose in sending this to you is merely to keep you inforaed of such developments as take place.
